چکیده

A better understanding of population structure and genetic diversity among cassava germplasm for African mosaic disease fresh root yield traits is useful improvement programme. Phenotype-based selection these cumbersome due to phenotypic plasticity difficulty in screening phenotypic-induced variations. This study assessed quantitative trait loci (QTL) regions associated with (ACMD) storage (FSRY) 131 (Manihot esculenta) genotypes using a genome-wide association (GWAS). The single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) candidate genes, when validated, would be valuable resource marker-assisted the breeding process development new improved resistance ACMD desirable high yield. Population analysis 12,500 SNPs differentiated into five distinct sub-groups (K = 5). Marker-trait (MTA) generalized linear model identified two QTL significant three FSRY. demonstrated that DArTseq markers are genomic resources studies FSRY acceleration varietal release.

Genetic diversity and phylogeography of cassava mosaic viruses in Kenya.

Cassava is a major factor in food security across sub-Saharan Africa. However, the crop is susceptible to losses due to biotic stresses, in particular to viruses of the genus Begomovirus (family Geminiviridae) that cause cassava mosaic disease (CMD). During the 1990s, an epidemic of CMD severely hindered cassava production across eastern and central Africa. A significant influence on the appear...

Geminate structures of African cassava mosaic virus.

Two types of geminate structures were purified from African cassava mosaic geminivirus (ACMV)-infected Nicotiana benthamiana plants and analyzed by electron cryomicroscopy and image reconstruction. After cesium sulfate density gradient centrifugation, they were separated into lighter top (T) and heavier bottom (B) components. T particles comigrated with host proteins, whereas B particles were c...

Occurrence of African cassava mosaic virus (ACMV) and East African cassava mosaic virus – Uganda (EACMV-UG) in Jatropha curcas

Background Jatropha curcas is a drought resistant shrub native in tropical America, now widely grown in many tropical and subtropical regions for biodiesel production [1]. First reports on virus infections in Jatropha indicated the occurrence of viruses closely related to Cassava mosaic virus in India, reaching a disease incidence from 25 to 47%. This might represent a major constrain to the pr...

Cassava Germplasm Conservation and Improvement in India

Genetic diversity of cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz), obtained by open or controlled pollination and selection, as well as from germplasm introductions from abroad, is being conserved, both in the field and in an in vitro gene bank. Nine hundred and eighty five germplasm accessions are being conserved under slow-growth conditions using an osmotic retardant medium. The major thrust given in t...

The Diversity of Cassava Mosaic Begomoviruses in Africa

Cassava mosaic disease (CMD) is the most widespread and economically important disease of cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) in tropical Africa. A disease of cassava was first described in East Africa in the nineteenth century (Warburg, 1894) and cassava mosaic, as it came to be called, was subsequently reported as spreading throughout the cassava-growing areas of Central and West Africa (Calve...
